DEMANDED BY RUSSIA FROM JAPAN SETTLEMENT ISSUES OUTSTANDING. SUSPENSION OF RAILWAY PAYMENTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association). Copyright. MOSCOW, April 28. Acting on instructions from Moscow. M. Slavutsky, the Soviet Ambassador in Tokio, demanded a “final answer” from the Foreign Minister, Mr Hirota Asto, as to whether Japan was ready to discuss a settlement of the outstanding Russian and Japanese differences. The chief issue is the suspension of payment for the Chinese Eastern Railway. JAPAN BLAMED. POSITION COMPLICATED BY NEW DEMANDS. (Recd This Day, 9.50 a.m.) MOSCOW, April 29.
The Tass Agency says that instead of acceding to the Soviet’s request to come half-way and settle ten points of friction, Japan has made new demands complicating the position, including one for the immediate signature of the long-debated fisheries convention.
