BURGLARY & ASSAULT
LABOURER PLEADS GUILTY IN ASHBURTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, April 28. Albert Edward Lindcloff, labourer, today pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence on charges of breaking and entering and theft and assaulting David James Mclntyre, aged 69, and causing bodily harm on tho night of April 12. The evidence showed that Mclntyre, a farmer near town, hearing a noise in a front room went to investigate. He was struck twice on the head with a blunt instrument and several times on the hand, one finger being broken. The only articles missing were 2s 6d in money and three cartridges. Accused had been employed by Mclntyre for three or four years up to twelve months ago.
