GENERAL ELECTION
ENDORSED LABOUR CANDIDATES. Forty-eight candidates have been endorsed by the national executive of the Labour Party for the general election. They include 38 sitting members and ten new candidates. The endorsement of the remaining sitting members as candidates, it is stated, will be merely a matter of formality. In other electorates held by the Opposition and other parties, the selection of candidates is in progress. In the following list of 48 endorsed candidates, the names of the sitting members are denoted by an asterisk, and those of new candidates by a double asterisk. In cases where the sitting member belongs to another party, his name is given in brackets after that of the Labour candidate. The list is as follows: — Avon: “Hon D. G. Sullivan.
