SUNDAY SCHOOL CONCERT
ST MATTHEW’S PUPILS. Last evening the pupils of St Matthew’s Sunday School presented their annual concert in the Parish Hall. In spite of the inclement weather there was a packed house. The teachers had everything well in hand and the excellent programme went without a hitch. The Vicar (the Rev E. J. Rich) thanked the pupils for their excellent display and the parents and their friends for their appreciative attendance. The pianiste was Mrs Coleman and the stage manager Miss Betty Coleman. The programme was as follows:— Opening chorus, junior boys and girls; “Jesus Loves Me” and “Jesus Bids Us Shine”; recitation, Monica Fagan; dance, Noeline Graham; play, “King Cole’s Band,” girls; recitation, Roger Hunter; dance, Jocelyn Heath; play, “The Lost Sheep,” girls; piano solo, Brenda Jaine; song and dance, Ngaire Marsh; dialogue, "He and She,” Jocelyn Heath and Margaret Dagg; tap dance, Jack Handcock; song and dance, Miss Whitehouse’s class; dance, Peggy Bubbers; play, “The Butcher, the Baker, the Candlestickmaker,” boys; recitation, Pat Miller; vocal solos, Mrs Moss; action recitation, Miss Whitehouse's class; piano solo, Ross Ninnes; play, “The Happy Heart,” girls; recitation, Basil Marsh; song, Joan Russell; tap dance, Marjorie Oliver; vocal duets, Messrs Riley Bros.; scene, “The Mad Tea Party” from “Alice in Wonderland" Dorothy Heckler, Mary Heath, Shirley Russell, Pat Miller.
