RESERVE PILOTS

PROGRESS OF TRAINING SCHEME. Since the inception of the training scheme for civil reserve pilots the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club has trained nine pilots at the Hood Aerodrome. This year a further number are to be trained and applications are now being considered. Under this scheme a certain number are selected to receive training up to A licence standard. During the first year each trainee receives 40 hours free flying with refresher courses during the following two years of, ten hours each. This scheme offers a splendid opportunity to those who are keen on taking up flying to become qualified pilots. There are still a number of vacancies for this year’s quota but it is anticipated that with applications in hand and those expected from prospective candidates the quota will soon be filled.
