HEAVY OUTLAY APPROVED IN PARIS PROVISION OF SHELTERS. AND MASKS IMPROVEMENT OF ROADS FOR EVACUATION (Recd This Day, 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, April 25. The “Times’ ” Paris correspondent says that air defence expenditure amounting to £4,700,000 was approved by the General Council of the Seine Department, half of which will be contributed by the State. The bulk of the money is to be spent on the conversion of underground railways and private cellars into shelters. The remainder is being devoted to gasmasks and the improvement of main roads for evacuating the city.
