GOLD MINING RETURNS The Okarito Five Mile Beach Gold Dredging Co., Ltd., has issued the following report for the four weeks from March 6 to April 2:—Total gold won, 950 z. 18dwt.; total time worked, 395 hours; total non-working time, 181 hours; total yardage treated, 20,577, an average of 52 cubic yards per hour; average value of ground (on basis of gold worth £4 per ounce), 4.4 d a cubic yard. The Mataki dredge return for the period ended April 24 was 28oz. for 113 hours’ work and 7100 cubic yards. The Goldfields Dredging Co. advises a wash-up of 240 z for 130 hours' dredging. The Argo dredge return was 1340 z. for 129 hours and 12,000 yards dredged. The Blackball Creek first wash-up was 40|oz. for 12,000 yards. Gillespies Beach return was 320 z for 92 hours.
