MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
■ 4. CONTEST FOR MASTERTON MAYORALTY. MESSRS JORDAN AND TAYLOR NOMINATED. At noon today two nominations had been received for the Masterton Mayoralty, Mr L. J. Taylor, having being nominated to oppose the present Mayor, Mr T. Jordan. There is a distinct possibility that at least two further nominations fox - the positioxx may be received before the final closing at noon tomorrow. Four nominations have been received for the eleven vacancies on the Borough Council, but no nominations are yet to hand for Borough representation on the Wairarapa Hospital Board, the Wairarapa Electric Power Board and the Wellington Harbour Board. Nominations received at noon today were as follow: — Mayoralty. Thomas Jordan, nominated by Messrs H. P. Hugo and J. Jameson. Lionel John Taylor, nominated by Messrs F. J. Hunn and O. H. E. Yates. Borough Council. H. E. Gardner, nominated by Messrs D. A. Pickering and J. Betty. J. Ninnes, nominated by Messrs H. P. Hugo and N. T. B. W. Beetham. Robert Russell, nominated by Messrs W. R. Nicol and G. Malmo. William White, nominated by Messrs W. G. Lamb and G. R. Jackson. All the above are sitting members of the council.
