UNANIMOUS VOTE
REPRESENTATIVES OF 1203 ORGANISATIONS. ACTION BY TRADE UNIONS REQUESTED. LONDON, April 24. The National Emergency Labour conference regarding Spain, which is being attended by delegates from 1203 organisations, voted unanimously to support the Republican Government, and with this end in view will make an appeal to the British and French Governments and trades unionists. The conference decided to request the Trades Union Congress to convene a meeting to decide on coercion upon the British Government to save Spain. The Schofield Aircraft Shop Stewards’ Council said the union was not prepared to co-operate with the Government in rearmament on the basis of the present policy. They were prepared to agitate for a factory strike to compel Britain to send arms to Spain. SUNK BY CRUISER. SMALL VESSEL CARRYING LOYALIST TROOPS. PARIS, April 24. The cruiser Canarias is reported to have sunk a number of small vessels conveying republican troops attempting to reach Valencia. It is believed that all perished.
