A reformer is a man who wants to make the world better than the people who live in it. Forbidden by the Minister of Defence to visit his old prison on Ripa Island, Count Felix von Luckner will at least take a souvenir of the island back to Germany with him. He was presented in Christchurch with a piece of barbed wire fence which surrounded the wooden shack which was his home for 119 days. The presentation was made by one of the count’s guards.
