ORCHESTRAL CONCERT

A rather more interesting programme than usual will be presented by the Orchestral Society tomorrow evening at the Opera House. A feature of the programme will be two numbers — “Shepherds Hey” and “Mock Morris,” by Percy A. Grainger, who has an undoubted flair for folk music. Nothing could be more characteristically English and no composer could have done greater justice to these folk tunes. The music ranges from the gay to the boisterous and recalls colourful village festivities that are less common today, unfortunately, than two or three generations ago. The box plan is open at the Arts and Crafts. Booking is free.
