AQUATIC HORSEMAN
William Boyd, creator of the popular Hopalong Cassidy character, proved his ability to stick on any kind of a cayuse years ago, but an incident during the filming of Paramount’s “Texas Trail,” his newest film, opening next Saturday at the Cosy Theattre, showed him to be an aquatic horseman in addition to his othei’ abilities. While Boyd and his henchmen, George Hayes and Russel Hayden, were swimming a herd or horses over the Little Tuba River in Arizona, a mare and her foal were caught in the current and carried downstream. Boyd saw the accident, headed his great white horse into the stream, and after a hard struggle managed to save both the animals. When he emerged dripping wet, George Hayes remarked that unless the Western star curbed his impulses toward aquatic rescues, he’d soon be cast in sea pictures! George Hayes, the man who journeyed to California to retire, is Windy Halliday again. “Texas Trail” gives Hayes another chance to play the old buddy of William Boyd, who is Hopalong, and Russell Hayden, who plays the part of Lucky Jenkins.
The second feature is “Night Club Scandal,” a thrilling drama of the night life of New York.
