PERSONAL ITEMS (“Times-Age” Special) Mrs A. Linton is visiting relatives in Auckland. Mr Trevor Hume has returned from a visit to New Plymouth. Miss Cock will embark for England on May 9. Mr H. B. McMaster, who has been competing in the golf tourney at Napier, has returned home. Mr and Mrs Sutherland, Wellington, were the guests of Mr and Mrs Guy Gillies, Waipatu, over the holidays. Messrs Guy and Noel Hume have returned from Wanganui, where they stayed with their brother, Martin. Mr and Mrs Guy Didsbury and their sons, Bill and Colin, were visitors to relatives here during the holidays. Miss Grenfell and Mrs Clark, Wellington, were the guests of Mrs Dudley Jones for the holidays. Miss McKenzie, Khandallah, and her niece, Miss Noeline McLaren, Masterton, were the guests of Miss N. McDougall over the holidays. Mr and Mrs D. Tikao and Mrs McKenzie, who have been visiting relatives at Rotorua, have returned home. Mr Guy Waddell, Bluff, is staying with relatives in this district. Mr and Mrs Graham, who have been staying in this district during the holidays, have returned to Wellington. Mrs Arthur Warren, who has been visiting relatives at Christchurch, has returned home. Mr and Mrs Fred Lovegrove, who have been; on a motor tour to the north, have returned home. Mr W. Holland, who has been relieving here, has returned to Martinborough. Messrs C. N. and G. Hume have returned from Wellington where they went to farewell their mother, who sailed from there on Thursday evening for Sydney en route for England. Mr Sid Oates has returned from Taupo, where in company with his father, he attended the funeral of a relative. WEATHER SPOILS HOLIDAYS The climatic conditions during the holidays were most unfavourable, and consequently picnic parties camped at various places along the coast had an exceedingly unpleasant holiday. GOLF The following is the draw for the first round of the William Hume Memorial Cup to be played by members of the local golf club on Saturday:— Mrs Tikao v. Mrs Carter, Mrs Bragg v. Miss McDougall, Miss Cock v. Mrs McKenzie, Mrs McLeod v. Mrs Warren, Mrs Saunders v’. Mrs Herangi; F. Lovegrove v. G. Munro, D. Tikao v. D. Jones, J. Riwai v. R. McDougall, B. McMaster v. J. Carter, V. Saunders v. K. Waiwera, W. Charters v. S. Hall, M. Carter v. M. McLeod, S. Thomas v. T. Hume, M. Herangi v. A. Warren. Mr H. B. McMaster, a member of the local club competed at the East Coast tournament held at Napier during the holidays. He qualified for the championship, but was eliminated with the first round, at the 19th, after a stirring contest with Kuril, a prominent Hawse’s Bay player. SUCCESS AT DOG TRIAL Mr N. Hume was successful with his dog in the Maiden Huntaway Competition at the recent dog trials at Martinborough. FERRETS KILL CHICKENS A local resident had the misfortune recently to lose a dozen valuable pullets owing to the depredations of ferrets. MORMON ADHERENTS. Adherents of the Mormon faith, who attended the annual conference at Ngaruawahia during Easter, returned last evening.
