DISTRICT NURSING

PROPOSAL FOR EKETAHUNA. DEPARTMENT TO TAKE CONTROL. At its meeting today the Wairarapa Hospital Board adopted a recommendation by a special committee that the Department of Health take over the administration of the district nursing services in Eketahuna. Concern has been expressed at recent board meetings over the difficulty of obtaining the services of a nurse for Eketahuna. Miss C. Kenny stated that she had discussed the matter with the Department of Health, which fully appreciated the difficulties, and the department had agreed to take over the whole of the administration of the service in consideration of the board making an annual grant of £lOO. The department would also like to retain the services of the Nursing Committee to act as an auxiliary for the nurse. The suggestion met with the approval of the committee and also other members of the board present. It was accordingly recommended that the board adopt the proposal and arrange for the Department of Health to take over immediately. The recommendation was adopted.
