BIRTHDAY GIFTS
HUNDREDS PRESENTED TO HITLER LION CUB INCLUDED. GOEBBELLS GIVES VOLUME OF SPEECHES. (Recd This Day, 12.10 a.m.) LONDON, April 20. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Berlin correspondent says a lion cub was among the hundreds of birthday gifts presented to. Herr Hitler, the flow of which occupied a special corps of protective guards, which was engaged in piling them up throughout the day. Dr Goebbels gave the Fuehrer a bound volume of all the speeches during the period of the Austrian annexation, including Dr Schuschniggs farewell oration. Herr Himmler gave a dagger inscribed: “We will always be the same, in good times and bad.” Herr Hitler took the salute at a great march past in the Unter Der Linden. CELEBRATION IN VIENNA. (Recd This Day, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, April 20. The “Daily' Telegraph’s” Vienna correspondent says Herr Hitler’s birthday was celebrated with many military processions and the planting of hundreds of trees.
