THIRTY MILES OF COAST HELD MANY PRISONERS TAKEN WEST OF TORTOSA. LOYALISTS CLAIM GAINS IN PYRENEES. SALAMANCA, April 20. Following up General Franco’s victory broadcast, the insurgents claim to have widened their grip on the Mediterranean coast to 30 miles. They claim also that they captured 2500 prisoners west of Tortosa, including complete units and also valuable war materials.
A Madrid report says the Republicans are indignantly' denying that the war is near its end. They claim to be repulsing the insurgents at various points in the Pyrenees. They captured two villages and checked the fall of the cathedral town of Seodeurgel. PROTEST BY GOVERNOR. INCENDIARY BOMBS DROPPED NEAR HOSPITAL. CANAS, April 20. The Governor of Almeria bitterly protested against the dropping of incendiary bombs on three sides of the Anglo-American Hospital.
