WEDDINGS
WATSON—CLARKE. A quiet but pretty wedding took place on Saturday last at St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, when Miss E. Clarke, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. E. Clarke, of Mauriceville, was married to Mr A. Watson, fourth son of Mr J. Watson and the late Mrs Watson, of Waipawa, Hawke’s Bay. The Rev. E. J. Rich was the officiating minister, and Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church escorted by her father, was attired in magnolia tinted satin, with a coronet of orange blossoms, which held in place a beautiful bridal veil. She also carried a bouquet of white roses, and asparagus fern. Miss D. Watson, sister of the bridegroom, who carried out the duties of chief bridesmaid, was attired in pale pink sprigged organdie muslin over pink taffeta. Miss M. Clarke, cousin of the bride, the second bridesmaid, was attired in pale blue sprigged organdie muslin over blue taffeta. Both carried bouquets to match. The bridegroom was .attended by Mr J. Robertshawe, of Waipawa, as best man, and Mr Leslie Clarke, brother of the bride, was groomsman. The' church had been prettily decorated with autumn flowers by the bride’s aunt and cousin. After the ceremony Mr and Mrs Clarke entertained relatives and near friends at a reception in the Cosy Lounge, where Mrs Clarke, the bride’s mother, and Mrs Harward, bridegroom’s sister, received the guests. The former was attired in blue silk, gloves, hat and shoes to match, and the latter in blue and white marocain, with hat, gloves and shoes to tone. Later Mr and Mrs Watson left by train for the south. Their future home will be in Wellington. The bride travelled in a navy blue dress and coat, with accessories to match. HOPKINSON-MORRIS A quiet, but pretty wedding, was solemnised at the Greytown Presbyterian Church, On Saturday, when Miss Jennie Elizabeth Morris, elder daughter of the late Mrs Ada Morris, Greytown, was married to Mr Jack Tate Hopkinson, only son of Mr and Mrs J. Hopkinson, Granity, Westport. The Rev Keenan, of Featherston, assisted by Rev K. Lilly, Greytown, was the officiating clergyman.
Miss Queen Hills, of Woodside, was bridesmaid, and Mr Alex Grigg, of Wellington, carried out the duties of best man.
