OLD BOYS VISIT TO HUTT. (By “Touchline.”) Whilst in the Hutt, I had the pleasure of witnessing the game, Old Boys v. Hutt, and although neither side was fully represented, some really good football was seen. The Old Boys held their own during the first half; in fact they were unlucky not to score on two occasions, when Parsonson, with excellent line kicks kept the the ball at Hutt’s corner flag. From the line-out Donald Cameron, W. Rayner and Bodie went over the line, but Kilmister saved nicely. In the second half, Hutt tried out several other players, and form told on the Whites, who were outclassed towards the end of the game. Tries were scored very quickly and the final score was Hutt 33 points, Old Boys 11. Some of the latter boys played splendidly. Donald Cameron was never off the ball, and with a bit more weight he should easily wear a “rep.” jersey. Rayner and Bodie both played excellent games. Both should make their mark in senior football this season. Parsonson was outstanding in the backs, scoring all the points for whites. Faulknor, last season’s junior rep., was very safe, some of his line kicks being a great help to his forwards. Morton showed some of his old form, handling and kicking in fine style. However, the boys all did their part in a splendid manner. Hutt tried out several of last season’s fourth grade team, and they played really well, Burton being a fine inside back. Williams was also good and Flanagan although only 16 years old, weighed nearly 14 stone. He played a fine forward game. Kilminster at half was in fine form, his passes to Sargisson being perfect. The latter was the best back on the ground and should easily gain rep. honours. After the game the visitors were entertained by the Hutt Club at the Central Hotel, and various toasts were proposed and responded to..
