Mrs Bernstein at a deposition hearing testified that not a penny of the fortune which her son. Jackie Coogan, claims as his earnings lawfully belonged to him. “I have done my best for him. I tried to make a man of him. but have not succeeded very well." she said. Asked if she ever promised her son or if she intended to create a trust fund for him, Mrs Bernstein replied. “Absolutely no.” “Does all Jackie's money belong to you?”—“I believe that is the law.” As the lawyer persisted with his question, Mrs. Bernstein buried her head in her arms and wept. The hearing was adjourned.
