SLANDER CHARGE

AGAINST LEADERS OF IRON GUARD. FORMER MINISTER ATTACKED. (Recd This Day, 9.55 a.m.) BUCHAREST, April 19. M. Codreanu, leader of the Iron Guard, is on trial on a charge of slander contained in a letter to M. Jorga, when the latter was a member of the Cabinet. M. Codreanu’s defence is that the letter was not an insult to M. Jorga as a Cabinet Minister, but in his capacity as a journalist, regarding his articles attacking the Iron Guard in a newspaper he owned. M. Codreanu will later be charged with subversive activities. CODREANU SENTENCED. (Recd This Day, 11.35 a.m.) BUCHAREST, April 19. Codreanu was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
