MILITARY PLANES
SUPPLY FROM UNITED STATES & CANADA CONSIDERATION IN BRITAIN. AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 14. Lord Winterton, questioned in the House of Commons as to the possibility of the United States supplying military aircraft to the Royal Air Force, said: “Definite exploratory action is being taken in regard to the possibility of a supply of aircraft for the Royal Air Force both from America and Canada.” QUICK DELIVERY. POSSIBILITIES DISCUSSED. NEW YORK, April 14. Army officials expressed the opinion that American air factories could manufacture considerable quantities of aeroplanes for Britain as suggested by Lord Winterton, says the Washington correspondent of the “New York Times.” Though not at full capacity at present, the factories could make quick delivery of as many as 10,000 planes. The “New York Times” estimates that United States industry could produce 2000 planes for export to Britain within a year, provided types at present being produced are ordered.
