HEALTH INSURANCE
THE COMMONWEALTH PLAN. PAYMENTS TO DOCTORS. (Recd This Day, 10.35 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Following on a conference between the Federal Treasurer (the Hon R. G. Casey), Commonwealth officers and the Federal Council of the British Medical Association, it has been agreed that doctors be paid eleven shillings a year for each insured person entitled to medical benefits in the projected national health insurance plan. The service to be provided under the national plan will be for insured persons only, not their dependants. It will be a “general practitioner” service and excludes confinements and major operations.
