DROWNINGS FEARED
FATHER AND SON MISSING AT KAIKOURA. DINGHY WASHED ASHORE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 13. It appears almost certain that David Victor Roberts, aged 46, and his son, John Henry Roberts, aged 24, of South Bay, Kaikoura, were drowned at sea on a fishing trip. They left Kaikoura beach about 6 o’clock on Tuesday evening, and today the dinghy from which they were fishing was found washed up on the rocks with a hat, thermos flask and pencil lying nearby. Nothing has been seen of the men or their bodies, but it is thought they must have been drowned. The weather was calm when they set out, but a very strong southerly gale began about 11 p.m. and the sea was very rough during the
night. The older man has a wife and large family. His son has a wife and one small child.
