Mr and Mrs A. W. McKenzie, of Renall Street, left today on a holiday visit to Gisborne, where they will be the guests of Mi - and Mrs J. Reid.
Mr and Mrs P. V. Smith, Akitio, and their daughters, the Misses Joan and Phillipa Smith, will leave Wellington by the Wanganella tonight for a trip abroad.
Mrs R. U. Hume, Featherston, will leave Wellington by the Wanganella tonight for Sydney to connect with the Orford for an extended tour of Great Britain, the Continent and America.
A pleasant interlude in the business of the Pahiatua Borough Council took place when a presentation was made on behalf of the council of a handsome beaten brass firestand to the late librarian, Miss E.- Chatwin, in honour of her approaching marriage to Mr L. Truscott.
Mrs C. Murfitt, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs C. Van Praagh, Masterton, who has been in charge of Burnside Medical Hospital during her mother's absence in England, is spending Easter with Mr Murfitt at Raumati Beach. Immediately after Easter Mrs Murfitt is taking up her residence in New Plymouth.
The wedding was celebrated at St. George’s Presbyterian Parish Church, Edinburgh, on April 5, of Jean Galloway, second daughter of Lord and Ladv Russell, Edinburgh, to Dr. Hugh P. Donald, PhD., F.R.S.E., elder son of Mr and Mrs H. P. Donald, Papanui Road, Christchurch. Dr Donald is a graduate of Canterbury University College, where he took his B.Sc. degree. He joined the staff of the Canterbury Agricultural' College, Lincoln, as lecturer in agricultural science. In 1932 he graduated M.Ag.Sc.. and the same year he was awarded a Macmillan Brown scholarship. He left Christchurch in 1933 for Edinburgh, where he gained his P.D.. and was admitted a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Dr. Donald is a member of the research staff of Edinburgh University.
