THEFT AND FORGERY
BANK CLERK PLEADS GUILTY By Telegraph.—Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 13. George Alfred James Bell, bank clerk, aged 45, appeared before Mr J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, today on two charges of theft as a servant of the New Zealand Government of £822 and £703 10s, the property of the Postmaster-General, on February 22, 1938, and from January 30, 1937, to March 1, 1938, respectively, and five charges of forging Post Office Savings Bank withdrawal receipts for £l4, £5, £4, £5, and £BO respectively. Bell pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
