For the first time in the history of Egypt, two queens, King Faroukis mother, and his new consort, Queen Farida, appeared in the royal box at the opening of Parliament by King Farouk. King Farouk’s speech was read by Mahmoud Pasha,. The King thanked God that the elections had confirmed the existence of a sane conception of government.
