Magpie Attacks Child.

An attack by a magpie on a girl attending a country school in South Canterbury has been reported. It is understood that the bird dived on the girl’s head with her eyes as its mark, and that as a result one of her eyes was injured. The full extent of the injury has not yet been determined. Referring to this incident, the head master of a country school said that he was; strongly of the opinion that magpies should be cleaned out when they lived in numbers near schools, for it was fairly common for pupils to have to ward off the aggressive birds.
