PALACE BLACK LIST
BAN ON THE DIVORCED. Court officials responsible for sending out invitations to Palace functions are taking note of the increasing number of society divorce cases, and recent disclosures regarding "high life" in Mayfair are being considered. They are now adding names to the "black list” of people who are not to be invited to these functions in future. As the number of applications this year for invitations to Palace garden parties, levees, and to Royal Ascot is much greater than usual —it exceeds 5000—the list will be carefully pruned. Women who have appeared as guilty parties in divorce suits will be banned. So also will men, unless it is clear that there are extenuating circumstances.
Another group to be weeded out are the hard-up peeresses who use their position in society to carry on a regular business of acting as sponsors to young women who wish to be presented at Court.
