STOCK MARKET
ADDINGTON PRICES EASIER. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 12. The weekly Addington market was held today instead of tomorrow because of the Easter holiday interfering with normal slaughtering operations. Practically all classes of stock were easier in price.
Store lambs: These met with an easing of a shilling a head. Rape lambs sold to 17s; carry-over sorts to 13s; culls to 7s. Store sheep: Good two-tooth ewes sold firmly, as did sound-mouthed ewes from Chatham Islands, South Otago two-tooths sold to 37s 3d and Chatham s.m. to 265. There was a slack sale, with an easing in values. Fat lambs: Prime heavy lambs sold well to the trade at full 8d a lb.
Fat sheep: There was a slacker sale all round by about 2s a head, passings being much more numerous than usual. The quality was very mixed, inferior ewes predominating. With the approach of the holiday exporters were very little in the market. Fat cattle: The slight improvement of last week was more than lost, although good steers showed only minor change. Indifferent classes were easier by about 15s a head. Best beef made up to 35s a 1001 b; good 31s to 335; inferior down to 22s 6d. Fat pigs: Porkers improved in price. The average price a lb for these was 6Jd to 7d. For baconers the average price was 6d to 6£d.
