MASTERTON’S MAYOR.
announcement today that the Mayor ot Mas’terton (Mr T. -Jordan) lias agreed, at the request of a representative deputation, to accept, nomination lor a further term of office, will, be welcomed heartily by members of all sections of the community. It is not necessary to agree at all times with everything Mr -Jordan, says or does to recognise that Masterton is exceptionally fortunate in its Mayor. To native ability of a high order he adds an unrivalled knowledge ol all that appertains to the conduct of local government in this country and he is possessed of qualifications that were recognised appropriately not long ago in. liis re-election as president, of the Municipal Association of Xew Zealand. In. matters also of transport, town and regional planning and other branches of affairs, Mr -Jordan has rendered valuable public service. His habitual attitude of mind is one of sturdy independence and he takes every opportunity of battling strenuously for his town and district. He never fails 1 o'"represent and speak for the town with distinction on any public occasion. Masterton can hardly hope to find a better .Mayor.
