WEDDING

COOPER-HERDMAN. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Carterton, on Saturday afternoon. The contracting parties were Molly, third daughter of Mr and Mrs W. T. Herdman, Pembroke Street, Carterton, and Charles Oliver, third son of Mrs E. Cooper and the late Mr R. Cooper, of “Hinana,” Gladstone. The Rev. W. I. Stent officiated and Mrs Bath presided at the organ.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, chose for her gown ivory satin cut on classical lines, the skirt forming a long train. Her tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of cream dahlias and zinnias. The bridesmands, Misses Florence Stevens (chief), Jean Hume and Mavis Herdman (sister of the bride), were dressed alike in picture frocks of pink ne tover taffeta and wore bandeaux of pink net in their hair. They carried shower bouquets of pink dahlias and zinnias and blue delphiniums. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr L. Allen and the groomsmen were Messrs. Allen and C. Wyeth.

About 100 guests were afterwards received at the State ballroom by Mrs Herdman, who was attired in a navy costume and Miss C. Cooper (sister of the bridegroom) who was wearing a midnight blue ensemble. Both carried posies in autumn shades. Later Mr and Mrs C. O. Cooper left by car for the north, the latter wearing a smart London tan ensemble with brown accessories. Their future home will be at Gladstone.
