WAIRARAPA RACES FIRST DAY ACCEPTANCES. Acceptances for the first day of the Wairarapa Racing Club’s Easter meeting, to be held on April 16 and 18, and at which single-pool betting will operate, are: — 11.45—

Pannui, a former inmate of J. Smith's stable at Te Rapa, is now located with J. W. Cathro, at Matamata. Paunui displayed promise in his work at Te Rapa prior to the Tauranga fixture, but on neither day there nor subsequently at Matamata could he reproduce it in company. As he was taken over by Cathro in good order the Matamata mentor Will have the right condition to work on.

April 11. Gamble, runner-up in the New Zealand Trotting Cup this season, and a candidate for the trotting championship, has broken down, tendon trouble being responsible. His trainer, M. B. Edwards, said it is doubtful if the horse will be tried again, as he has had a bad foreleg for a long time, and has always been difficult to train.
