FIRE FIGHTING

NEW PUMP FOR MASTERTON BRIGADE. The latest addition to the fire fighting appliances of the Masterton Fire Brigade, a new pumping engine, arrived in Wellington last week. The pump has an output of 500 gallons a minute and will be used for pumping and boosting water from the street mains.

It is one of the most up-to-date pumps available and is of the type that provides accommodation for the brigadesmen inside, thus allowing them to dress with safety while proceeding to a fire. The pumps will be located amidships and can be used from either side of the machine.
