PUBLICATION OF SECRET MEMORANDUM CRITICISMS & COMPLAINTS BY HIGH OFFICERS. SAIDTO HAVE LED TO RECENT PURGE. (Recd This Day, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, April 10. The “Sunday Chronicle” publishes what is described as a secret memorandum. written by high officers of the German Army, the discovery of which led to the recent Army purge. The statement complains that the new army has been weakened by participation in the Spanish war and declares that every new German war weapon has been rushed to Spain for testing. Russian planes and tanks proved superior to Germany’s. It outspokenly criticises Herr Hitler’s policy and says that the theory of smashing the enemy in one qnick blow has been exploded and that Germany's interference in Spain has consilidated Britain, France and Russia against Germany. The statement adds that Britain and France are strong enough to stop Italy and Germany in Spain if they want to.
