New Hotel.

Another of Wellington’s historic hotels is soon to disappear in favour of a more modern structure. Although not so old as the Thistle Inn or -the Central (now razed to the ground) the City Hotel, at the corner of Oriental Parade and Marjoribanks Street, dates back more than 60 years. The new City Hotel, to be ready in time for the opening of the exhibition next year, will be a modern reinforced concrete building of three storeys. Sickness of all kinds is estimated to cost Britain £283.000.000 a year. Of this total, £100,000,000 represents the value of work lost.
