WEDDINGS

MOSS—WESTON. A profusion of blue hydrangeas and fern was the setting at St, Martin’s Church, Mangaweka, recently, for the wedding of Phyllis Gwendoline, elder daughter of Mr and the late Mrs Leonard Weston, to Allen, youngest son of Mr and Mrs Thos. Moss, of Newman. The ceremony was performed by the Rev H. N. Watkins.

The bride, who walked up the aisle with her father, wore an elegant sheath-fitting frock of ivory satin. The draped bodice had its V-shaped neckline caught with a sprig of orange blossoms, while pleats at the shoulders gave a slight fullness to the sleeves. The back of the frock was exquisitely cut, a double point from above the waistline widening out to a sweeping train, bordered with ruched satin. A row .of satin-covered buttons and loops from the point to the waist gave added effect. Over all willowed a long tulle veil from a headdress of three water lilies arranged in a top knot with green leaves peeping out on each side. A lovely sheaf of water lilies in pale shades encircled with magnolia leaves with trails of lily buds and finished with satin streamers, was carried. ’

Misses Betty Bailey, Betty Weston and Agatha Howard (Taumarunui) attended the bride.

The bridegroom was supported by Mi- Phillip Weston as best man and Messrs Alistair Tippet and Ronald Mackay as groomsmen. Messrs Ray Weston and Keith Stewart acted as ushers. BENBOW—EATON. The wedding took place recently at Gladstone of Madge, daughter of Mr and Mrs T. R. Eaton, Longburn, and Albert (Joe), youngest son of Mrs Benbow and the late Mr Charles Benbow, Ormondville. The church was massed' with pink hydrangeas and the Rev Mr Stent performed the ceremony.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a simple gown of cream lace, over satin. The long plain sleeves ended in points over the hands, and a train fell from the waist. A posy of tinted orange blossom finished the neck, and her embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a halo of pleated tulle and orange blossom. She carried a shower-bouquet of cream gladioli, carnations and roses.

The bridesmaids, Miss Isabel Cooper and Miss Jean Benbow, were dressed alike in frocks of pink floral satin with redingotes of green georgette. In their hair they wore halos of pleated green tulle and pink flowers to tone with their frocks, and they carried shower bouquets of pink carnations and Easter lilies. Enid Johns, the flower-girl, was dressed in green georgette, and lan Scott, page boy, wore a white satin suit.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr Murray Ross as best man, and Mr George Dew as groomsman. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by her small niece, Anne McKay.

A reception was held in the Gladstone Hall. Mrs T. R. Eaton receiving her guests in an ensemble of navy floral crepe with a navy redingote. and hat and shoes to match. She carried a posy of autumn-tinted flowers. The bridegroom’s mother. Mrs Benbow, wore a gown of black marocain, with satin coatee. Her flowers were red carnations and zinnias. Mrs Dew, the bridegroom's sister, assisted in receiving the guests, and wore a frock of black tree-bark satin printed in white, with a matching hat, and a shoulder spray of cyclamen-shaded carnations. When Mr and Mrs A. Benbow left for their honeymoon, the bride was wearing a navy tailored ensemble with hat and accessories to tone.
