PROTESTS BY RELIGIOUS COMMUNITIES "AN ALLEGEDLY ALARMIST MEASURE. TRADESPEOPLE RESENT LOSS OF PROFITS. (Recd This Day, 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, April 3. The Jerusalem correspondent of “The Times” says the closing of the Basicila of the Holy Sepulchre because of structural defects has caused consternation among the communities worshipping in it, owing to the approach of the Holy Week, with thousands of pilgrims coming. They consider the closure an alarmist measure and protest that a building which has stood for eight centuries will stand a fortnight more Tradespeople resent the threatened curtailment of their profits from pilgrims.
