FIRM INACTIVITY

STATE OF LONDON STOCK MARKET PRICES BETTER ALL ROUND BUT LITTLE TRADING By Telegraph.—Press Association, (Recd This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, April 8. After initial hesitancy, the markets appear to have settled down to a period of firm inactivity with prices better all round under the leadership of gilt-edged stocks, Central European bonds, especially Austrian sevens, rising over ten points in two days. New Zealand issues were among Dominion stocks which tended to be easier, but Australians held their ground. Many industrials also were higher, though there was little business. GOLD AND EXCHANGE (Recd This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, April 8. Gold is quoted at £7 Is lid an ounce. Exchanges: New York, 4962 dollars; Paris, 1612 francs; Batavia, 9.944 florins.
