COOPERATIVE SOCIETY

EL ECTION OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Masterton Co-op-erative Society was held on Thursday evening to appoint a committee of management. Mr. Wm. Moore presided over a large attendance and apologised for the absence of the manager of the New Zealand Co-op-erative Wholesale Society, who was unable to attend. Mr. B. Roberts, M.P., addressed the meeting and explained that the co-operative movement had tiie support of those who were working for the good of mankind. It was definitely non-political and must always remain so. He observed that the newspapers were reporting that the leading statesmen of the world were asking for co-opera-tion. It was the duty of the people to learn the advantages of co-operation and thus create a better understanding between nations. Mr Roberts was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his address.

The following officers were elected: —President, Mr. Wm. Moore; management committee, Messrs M. Condon, E. Kjestrup, W. Rick. W. Needham, J. Walker and H. Franks; propaganda committee, Messrs J. Curry, W. Heckler, W. McGovern, J. Liddall, W. Nicholl, E. J. Coleman, Goudge, C. Burgess, J. MacDonald and H. Billington.

Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to the chairman and to the secretary (Mr. H. Franks) for their services.
