Churches and the Press.
In a farewell note to the editor, the Rev G. F. Stockwell, who was transferred lately from the position of Superintendent of the Masterton Methodist Circuit to the corresponding charge in Hawera, says in part: "I desire to thank you and your staff for all the assistance given to me whilst in your town in the matter of Press reports, etc, and to acknowledge the courtesy of yourself and your fellow workers at all times. This equally applies to the editor and staff of the "Daily Times." I claim to know New Zealand fairly well. and. after thirty years in the ministry, I can say without hesitation that I have never known a place where the churches had a better run from the papers than in your beautiful town. I trust that under the new order of things the same courtesy and consideration will be extended. With every good wish for the increasing prosperity of the 'Wairarapa Times-Age.’ ”
