Mr N. S. Shirlow, of Hawkesbury Agricultural College, New South Wales, has evolved a fruit that is a cross between a peach and a nectarine, For several years he has raised thousands of seedlings and discarded them until he found the perfect cross. The new fruit has the flavour and white flesh of a nectarine, but matures early like a peach.
