EMPRESS OF BRITAIN

GREAT LINER ADMIRED IN MELBOURNE. HUGE CROWDS ASSEMBLE. MELBOURNE, April 6. Having completed rapid tours of Sydney and Melbourne, wealthy tourists on the luxury cruising liners Empress of Britain and Reliance, left Melbourne to-night for New Zealand. The first call will be at Milford Sound, which the tourists have been informed is the greatest sight they will see on the whole cruise.

Extraordinary.' scenes marked the arrival and departure of the Empress of Britain. It is estimated that 250,000 people visited Port Melbourne to see the two vessels. Hundreds of police were needed to regulate car traffic. The wharf was jammed with a solid mass of people as the Empress of Britain sailed at 6 p.m. The Reliance left at 7 p.m.
