LICENCE CANCELLED

PENALTY FOR INTOXICATION. AUCKLAND, April 5. “We want to keep the roads safe,” remarked Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrates' Court when sentencing William Ferdun Fast, aged 30. motorengineer, for being intoxicated in charge of a motor-car in Newton Road last evening. Fast’s counsel, Mr Aekins, said Fast was seen by a police constable to turn from-Symonds Street and collide with a stationary car.

The magistrate said Fast had previ-. ously been fined for a similar offence, also for dangerous driving. He ordered that defendant's licence be cancelled for 12 months.
