HAWKE’S BAY TOURNAMENT. HASTINGS, April 5. Polo of a standard equal to any in New Zealand was seen to-day at Hastings when the Hawke’s Bay Polo Club's yankee tournament was continued. The ground was a little soft, but the games were fast. Light rain commenced to fall late in the afternoon, but play was not interrupted. It is expected that there will be a keen tussle on Thursday when the champion teams will play off. Hawke's Bay A will meet Poverty Bay A, Wallingford will meet Masterton A. and Waipawa will meet Poverty Bay B. Play generally to-day was an improvement on the opening day, players keeping well up and hitting a good length. The following are to-day's results: — Open Events.

Senior grade: Poverty Bay A defeated Rangitikei, 6-3; Hawke’s Bay defeated Masterton A, 7-1; Wallingford defeated Poverty Bay B, 7-1. Junior grade: Waimarama defeated Atua, 12-10; Hastings defeated Taihape B, 7-1; Taihape A defeated Masterton B, 6-4. Handicap Events.

Senior grade: Rangitikei (handicap 6) drew with Poverty Bay (3), 9-9; Hawke’s Bay (scr.) drew with Masterton A (6), 7-7; Poverty Bay B (10) defeated Wallingford (3), 11-10.

Junior grade: Atua (4), defeated Waimarama (scr.), 14-12: Taihape B (12) defeated Hastings (scr.). 13-7; Masterton B (10) defeated Taihape A (4), 14-10.
