MINIATURE RIFLES

MASTERTON CLUB'S ANNUAL REPORT The followign Is the annual report of the Masterton Miniature Rifle Club for the past year:— The committee has pleasure in presenting the report for the season 1937, and in doing so records a most successful and enjoyable year. The Club’s finances have been carefully administered and further improvements in the equipment will be possible in the coming season. All members are thanked for their enthusiasm and co-operation, and despite the strenuous work done we have not heard of any dispute or difference which has marred the harmony of our sport. Foi - the first time in the history of the Club the A team succeeded in winning the Inter-Club Shield, and those contributing to this success are to be congratulated. Whilst the B team failed to retain the Johnson Shield, much valuable shooting experience was gained by the younger members. Individual honours in club shooting were secured by Mr J. Whiteman, who proved to the the Champion Shot, and Miss Frater, who successfully retained the Ladies’ Title after some excellent scoring. The Junior Championship was won by Mr C Curtis, a first-year shot. At the Wairarapa championship meeting, held at Greytown, the following members Messrs D. P. Donald, H. King, and H. Hope Cross finished 3rd. 4th and 7th respectively in a field of 120 competitors, and with the addition of Messrs H. V. Donald and J. Whiteman, were the winners of the teams’ match. Mrs Henderson also brought honour to the Club by winning the special silver cup for lady competitors. The following members gained representative honours in the Wairarapa Teams:—Mrs King, D. P. Donald, H. V. Donald. V. E. Donald. H. K. Smith. H. King, P. Rissell, J. Whiteman, 11. Cross, C. Pickering, and B. R. Jenkins, and acquitted themselves creditably. The Chib is indebted to all donors of trophies, to Mr G. Malmo for the use of his premises, the Press for publicity, Mr E. R. Rogers, honorary auditor, and all officials who gave unstinted time and energy to make the season so enjoyable.

We trust that with the repeated active support of all members 1938 will prove the continuation of success and enjoyment. For the committee, H. K. Smith, president; Mrs. G. King, secretary.
