FRENCH CABINET ADOPTS M. BLUM’S BILL.
Measures of National Defence
CAPITAL LEVY AND OTHER NEW TAXES PARIS, April 4. (Recd this day, 9.30 a.m.) Cabinet has adopted M. Blum’s financial Bill without modification, authorising the Government to decree measures of national defence, to protect the gold stocks of the Bank of France, and to carry out the country’s financial and economic recovery. It is understood that possible measures include a capital levy tax of four to seventeen per cent for defence, a higher income tax and Customs tariff increases. .
