RIVER CONTROL WORK

THE NGARURORO DISPUTE. SETTLEMENT LIKELY. HASTINGS, April 4. It appears likely that the Ngaruroro River control work will be recommenced this week as a result of a discussion at a board meeting today between the board and the representative of the team owners employed on the work, Mr. P. J. O’Brien. The chief engineer to the board, Mr. G. Rochfort, will meet the men tomorow and discuss the matter, and it is expected that the men will accept the offer.

Failing a settlement of the trouble tomorrow a deputation from the board will wait on the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
