METHODIST CHURCH

CIRCUIT QUARTERLY MEETING. The Masterton Methodist Circuit quarterly meeting was held last night, the Rev G. F. Stockwell (circuit superintendent) presiding. A warm welcome to the circuit was extended to the Rev C. Harold Skuse, successor to the Rev G. V. Thomas at

Kuripuni. Appreciative reference was made to the work of Mr H. L. Price, society steward, and faithful worker in the high offices of the church over a long period. Mr Price is leaving Masterton. At Kuripuni, the departure of Mr J. D. Blundell, a society- steward, will also be keenly felt. Mr G. F. Whitlock was elected as a society steward. Following on the trial of the Sunday School meeting in the morning it was reported that the Teachers’ meeting unanimously favoured a continuation of the morning meeting and this decision was confirmed. A credit balance of £lB/10/5 was a feature of the balance sheet.

The following committee was set up to organise Temperance work within the Circuit: —Mrs H. Speight, Misses Jackson and Church, Messrs Rutter, Skuse, C. E. Jones and Greenwood.

At the conclusion of the business, officials expressed their regret at the impending departure of Mr and Mrs Stockwell. Speakers stated that it was manifest that they had made friends and advanced God’s Kingdom by'their faithful work in Masterton.

The next meeting was fixed, for July 11, at Masterton.
