FEATHERSTON
(“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs Curlett, Bay of Islands, is visiting Mrs Chas. Matthews, “Oporua.” Mrs G. S. Sharp has returned from a visit to Waijanae for the BulleivauPink wedding. Mr S. Booth, choirmaster of St. John’s Church, took the opportunity during practise on Thursday night to express his regret at losing Miss Molly Clapshaw and wished her success in her new work. Miss Clapshaw is leaving to join the staff of Messrs J. Smith and Co., Wellington. Mrs S. S. M. Bish, Pukekohe, who has been visiting Mrs J. Morrison, of Morison’s Bush, is now the guest of Mrs Chas. J. Nix, Tauherenikau. Miss Dorothy Bloscain, acting Brown Owl, left on Friday to attend the training wee-end for Brownies, conducted by Miss M. Knight, England, at Wallace House, Lower Hutt. USEFUL BIRDS. Flocks of starlings in large numbers have been noticed recently in a white butterfly infested paddock of turnip. These valuable birds may yet be the saviour of New Zealand from the ravages of this pest.
