WARSHIP STANDARDS
BUILDING IN PROSPECT.
BATTLESHIPS OF 42,500 TONS.
(Received This Day, 1.25 p.m.) LONDON, April 1
A conference shortly will be opening in London when English, American and French experts will be called upon to decide a common level of tonnage and guns for new battleships, in readiness for their being laid down three months hence. It is gathered that the Americans are more anxious to build bigger than Britain, which does not desire to exceed 42,500 tons.
